“I just love rhetoric and argument and writing. Those are my favorite things. I mean I love literature too but if i had to pick a favorite it would be that. It’s like a fun weird nerd puzzle, and I like it. I think it’s pretty much a cornerstone for everything else that you need to be able to do in life. You need to be able to communicate, because if you’re not able to participate in the conversations people are having with some form of authority, then you’re subject to be ruled by it. You need to be able to communicate well and argue effectively in order to protect yourself. My favorite part of teaching is just having really good discussions with my students, when they get to like think and work out ideas and we have that kind of interesting banter I guess. I enjoy that the most.”
